Currently Reading Tag

I just saw this on Lala’s Book Reviews and had to do it. Tag me if you take part, I’d love to know more about your reading habits too!

1. How many books do you usually read at once?

Actively- around 4, usually in different genres and spread across physical, ebook, and audiobook. It helps me avoid reading fatigue or getting bored.

Inactively- I’m technically partially through about 5 others that I’ll get back to at some point (so I keep saying!)

2. How do you decide when to switch between multiple reads?

It’s often dictated by where I’m reading. I tend to read ebooks in bed or during commutes, audiobooks I listen to whilst cooking or walking the dog, and physical books I read out in the garden or in the tub.

Otherwise I just go with what book I instantly think of when I decide it’s time for some reading.

3. Do you ever switch bookmarks partially through a book?

Generally not. I’ve got a lovely selection of bookmarks from a bookmark exchange I took part in last year in an online book club. So I always have an extra one around if I’m reading more than one book. Unless I’ve lost it, which happens a worrying amount. Where do these bookmarks go?!

4. Where do you keep the books you are currently reading?

I converted our dining room into a library and one of the shelves I walk past the most often has a spot for my current reads. The ebooks are on my phone and kindle.

5. What time of day do you read the most?

In bed which is problematic if I’ve been reading something I couldn’t put down. I’ve really got to stop reading good books before bed, otherwise I might get some sleep.

6. How long do you typically read in one session?

Anywhere from 30 mins to an hour unless I’ve got a non-stop page turner. See my previous answer!

7. Do you read hardbacks with the dust jackets off?

No one who has ever met me would describe me as graceful. I’m extremely clumsy and this extends to everything I hold in my hands. So I tend to read with the jackets off and place them on top of other books on the shelf. It’s the only way to keep them safe.

8. What position do you mainly use to read?

Depends where I’m reading! If I’m outside, I’m sitting in the sun lounger or hot tub. Inside, I’m usually sitting in my rocking chair or in the bathtub.

At night, I read laying down which has found my face smacked by heavy tomes and kindle alike more times than I care to admit.

9. Do you take your current read with you everywhere you go?

Going somewhere… without my book?! Surely you must be joking.

10. How often do you update your goodreads reading progress?

I update nearly daily, or when I’ve had a good reading sesh. I try not to do it more than that but since the Goodreads app took away the ability to see the date of your last update, I sometimes accidentally update a book more than once in a day.
