I’m a little late to the game, but decided to try out Beat the Backlist 2019 to help whittle away at my ever expanding TBR list. It’s a fun year long event hosted by NovelKnight with various prompts to get you reading those books you keep putting off.
The task I’m most excited about is the BTB Bingo. I’m just doing the general board, but for you Harry Potter fans you can take part in the bingo as part of your Hogwarts House. So far I’ve made a pretty decent go of the bingo. I don’t have a full line yet, but I’m getting there. I’m aiming to go for a full house before the year is done.
I’ve put two copies of my board up: one to show which categories I’ve knocked off and one to show the books that I counted toward those spaces. Quite a few I’ve posted reviews for so the links for those will be at the bottom.
Music and Malice in Hurricane Town by Alex Bell
My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing
Light From Other Stars by Erika Swyler
Breaking the Lore by Andy Redsmith
Hurricane Season by Nicole Melleby
Are you taking part in Beat the Backlist or the bingo? Let me see your boards! Otherwise tell me how you’re tackling your TBR’s this year in the comments.
This sounds like a lot of fun actually. I haven’t been reading a lot of back list titles lately and maybe that’s why I’ve been struggling so hard to find 5 stars

Every year I do a mini challenge in a genre I’ve been meaning to read more books in. Last year was 20th century American classics, this year has been sci-fi.
There have been a few stinkers this year and I was starting to think maybe I just don’t like books anymore (lol) but then I read Old Man’s War and it blew me away.
